This confocal microscope is used on a TMC vibration isolation table to study endocrine pancreatic cells at The Rolf Luft Research Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology, The Karolinska Institute. These cells produce and secrete insulin that regulates the blood glucose level. Defect insulin secretion can lead to type-2 diabetes that is a rapidly growing disease.
